South African entrepreneur Richard Veal described Exeter as ‘absolutely gold’ after relocating to the city (in late summer 2015) with his wife and children in a bid to grow his business.  BarkerMad specialises in the production of promotional signage, barcode holders and shelf edge labels for retailers.  Having spent nine years heading up a similar business in South Africa, dealing with international retailers such as Walmart and Spar, Richard hoped that relocation to Europe would help him expand the business overseas.

 

Narrowing down potential locations, the Veals looked for a city with a bustling business community, good schools, excellent lifestyle opportunities and efficient connections to the rest of the world.  They quickly concluded that Exeter ticked all the right boxes and was the best place for both home and business life.
