Local Restrictions Support Grant (LRSG) - Closed

Back to Covid-19 business support grants overview.

Please note: We may share your personal data with other council services, other local authorities and government organisations to check the information provided in your application. We are administering these grants on behalf of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and your data will be shared with them for evaluation and research purposes. BEIS may contact you directly for research purposes.

This scheme only applies to business types required to close under the new Tier system. If you are a business that has not been required to close, please look instead at the eligibility criteria for the Local Restrictions Support Grant (LRSG) – Open

The eligibility period began on 2 December when national restrictions ended and Exeter was placed in Tier 2. Funding for this grant scheme is provided to Local Authorities for 14-day periods depending on eligibility from this date.

The Government reviewed the Tiers on 16 December 2020 and 30 December 2020. Exeter remained in Tier 2 from 17 December 2020 and then moved to Tier 3 from 31 December 2020.

Eligible businesses must have reopened after the first national lockdown (as a guide, non-essential shops were allowed to open from 15 June 2020), and must have been trading on 4 November before national restrictions were put in place from 5 November.

Local Authorities are authorised to award grants at the start of a mandated 14-day period of local restrictions resulting in business closure. Businesses that close in the middle of a payment cycle will not become eligible for the scheme until the start of the next 14-day payment cycle.

If the main service of a business is mandated to close then the business is eligible for a Local Restrictions Support Grant – Closed. So for businesses where the main indoor service is required to close but they are able to open outdoor services, they will still be eligible for LRSG - (Closed)

Businesses required to close because of Tier 2 restrictions in place from 2 December 2020 to 30 December 2020 can make a claim by completing the Local Restrictions Support Grant (LRSG) - Closed Tier 2 application form.

If your claim is successful you will automatically also receive payment for the period that Tier 3 restrictions were in place i.e. 31 December 2020 to 4 January 2021.
