2. How it works

Alarm unit Alarm unit (with sim)

The alarm unit

The Alarm unit plugs into the main telephone socket and your telephone plugs into the telephone extension socket on the Alarm unit. Alternatively if you do not have a landline, we can provide an alternative alarm which runs off its own internal mobile SIM.

We ask that the Alarm unit is kept plugged in and switched on at all times and is not moved from the site we install it unless you contact us first. This is important because if the Alarm unit is moved and incorrectly connected back up, the Alarm unit may not work if you press the button for help in an emergency. Don’t worry if there is a power cut, the Alarm unit has a battery and will continue to work for a number of hours.

How to use the pendant and alarm

  1. You press the button on the pendant
  2. The pendant sends a message to the alarm unit telling it to dial the monitoring centre. The red light on the pendant should come on for a few seconds, and the alarm unit will make a beeping or dialling noise.
  3. The beeping will change tone and one of our operators will answer you call
  4. You can explain the problem and the operator will arrange any assistance that is necessary
  5. If you cannot hear the operator, or they cannot hear you, please do not worry. I they can't make contact with you they will contact your keyholders or emergency services to check that everything is ok.
  6. When the call is finished, the operator will close down the call. You do not need to press any buttons.

Keysafe

We can also provide a keysafe and fit this onto a suitable location at your property.

The cost will vary depending on whether you want to rent or buy it outright. If you want to rent the keysafe, it is our responsibility to maintain it, however the keysafe number cannot be passed onto you or others, and will only be used for emergency services.

If you buy it outright, while it is your responsibility to audit the keysafe number and maintain it, the number will be known to you and you can use it for carers, family etc.

We also offer a sound boost at an additional cost, which extends the reach of the alarm around your home, and is especially useful for those who are hard of hearing or have large homes so the alarm can be heard in multiple locations. We can also provide additional pendants for multiple users at additional cost.
