5. When elections are due
Local Government (Exeter City Council) elections
The next Exeter City Council election is due in 2018. Each elected Councillor is appointed for a four year term, with a third of the 39 seats contested each year (one seat per ward). No City Council elections will be held in 2017 or every fourth year after, as this will be when Devon County Council will hold elections.
Local Government (Devon County Council) elections
Devon County Council elections are held on a four year cycle on the first Thursday in May and the next is due on 4th May 2017.
Parliamentary (General) elections
Parliamentary Elections are held every 5 years on the first Thursday in May. A snap general election has been called and will take place on June 8th 2017.
European Parliamentary elections
European Parliamentary elections take place every five years on the second Thursday in June. The next elections are due in 2019.
Police & Crime Commissioners elections
Police & Crime Commissioners elections will normally be held every four years and are next due to be held in 2020.
