5. When elections are due

Local Government (Exeter City Council) elections

The next Exeter City Council election is due on 7 May 2020.  Each elected Councillor is appointed for a four year term, with a third of the 39 seats contested each year (one seat per ward).  No City Council elections will be held in 2021 or every fourth year after, as this will be when Devon County Council will hold elections.

Local Government (Devon County Council) elections

Devon County Council elections are held on a four year cycle on the first Thursday in May and the next is due on 6 May 2021.

Parliamentary (General) elections

The next scheduled Parliamentary election is due on 12 December 2019.

European Parliamentary elections

The most recent election was held on 23 May 2019.

Police & Crime Commissioners elections

Police & Crime Commissioner elections will normally be held every four years and are next due to be held on 7th May 2020.
