We are looking for a Principal Environmental Health Officer to lead and co-ordinate the functions of the Neighbourhood Team. The principle functions of the Neighbourhood Team include:

• Statutory nuisance and anti-social behaviour complaints
• Public health issues
• Empty homes
• Financial assistance, including Disabled Facilities Grants and provision of home improvement loans

You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of staff within the team, coordination of regulatory and financial assistance work and the implementation of best practice in line with the direction of the wider service.

You will work with the Environmental Health and Community Safety Manager to review and develop policies in accordance with statutory requirements and timelines.

You will have a CIEH accredited degree or equivalent and extensive knowledge of applicable legislation, regulations, case law, guidance, policies, procedures, and developments in Environmental Health.

With a track record in Environmental Health, demonstrable leadership and supervisory skills, you’ll have a proactive, solution-seeking approach and will be adept at working with staff and partners to bring about improvements.

As part of this role, you will be required to travel to work sites, premises and area offices throughout the city. There will also be some requirement to attend evening meetings and undertake some out of hours work.
