3. Gas safety information
Every year about 30 people die from carbon monoxide poisoning caused by defective gas appliances and flues.
Landlords are required by law to ensure that gas appliances in rented housing are given an annual safety check by a trades person registered with the Gas Safe Register. A copy of the gas safety certificate must be given to tenants within 28 days of the check being done. A new tenant must be given a copy before they move in.

Failure to do this is a criminal offence.

Only use a gas appliance when you have seen a current gas safety certificate.
