6. Local Notices to Mariners

Turf Pierhead Lights Extinguished

Number: 13/17 Date: 6 Nov 2017

Notice is given that the Turf Pierhead Navigation lights have extinguished.

We anticipate repairs may be delayed for atleast a week to enable the necessary alterations to supply.


 

No.24 Port Hand Marker Light Extinguished

Number: 12/17 Date: 18 Oct 2017

Notice is given that the No.24 Port Hand Marker light has extinguished.

Subject to supplier and weather, our contractor expects to rectify the No.24 Buoy light within the next 3 days.


 

No.20 Port Hand Marker Light Extinguished

Number: 11/17 Date: 28 Jun 2017

Notice is given that the No.20 Port Hand Marker light has extinguished.

Subject to weather, our contractor expects to rectify the No.20 Buoy light within the next 3 days.


 

Canal passage prohibited during works

Number: 10/17 Date: 28 Jun 2017

Devon County Council contractors are carrying out further works on the Canal Bridge at Bridge Road from Monday 26 June until Friday 10 July 2017.

No vessels will be able to passage along the Exeter Ship Canal during this period.


 

Dawlish Warren Beach Management – Beach Recharge Update to LNtoMs 07 and 08

Number: 09/17 Date: 5 Jun 2017

Notice is given that planned dredging works commenced on 1 June 2017.

Vessels are permitted to continue use the area but advised to use caution  especially at the sinker line location during periods of low tide.
The floating line has markers along it length and should be readily visible.

This map shows the coordinates of the dredging area and sailing route of area of the hopper dredger "Mahury" and the attendant multicat "Matrasalvor 3".


 

M5 Bridge Works

Number: 08/17 Date: 5 Jun 2017

Notice is given that Highways contractors are carrying out works on the underside of the M5 Motorway bridge.

The contractors will be abseiling over the water and a safety boat will be operating during these times. This stage of the works is expected to be completed by January 2018.

Mariners are advised to stay within the deepest part of the river channel to the west side of the orange buoys marking the working area.

Dawlish Warren Beach Management – Beach Recharge Update

Number: 07/17 Date: 24 May 2017

Notice is given that the floating pipeline has been relocated [in its temporary position] further out to sea.

The revised location of the floating pipeline (position of both ends) is :

  • 50.35.221 N / 003.24.861 W
  • 50.34.809 N / 003.25.208 W

Dawlish Warren Beach Management – Beach Recharge

Number: 06/17 Date: 28 Apr 2017

Notice is given that on Tuesday May 2nd 2017 pipework in support of  the beach recharge works start being delivered to Dawlish Warren.

The works comprise the movement of pipes by barge from Teignmouth to the lee side of Dawlish Warren spit at high tide, where it will be unloaded before the pipes are removed.

No.3 Starboard Marker has been temporarily removed

Notice is given that the No.3 Starboard Marker has been removed temporarily for repairs.

Subject to weather, our contractor expects to return a No.3 Buoy to its original position within the next 7 days.


 

No.31 Starboard Marker returned to original position

Number: 04/17 Date: 10 Feb 2017

Notice is given that the No.31 Starboard Marker has been returned to its original position.


 

No.31 Starboard Marker has moved position

Number: 03/17 Date: 3 Feb 2017

Notice is given that the No.31 Starboard Marker has moved from its position towards Exton Station during rough weather.

Subject to weather, our contractor expects to return the No.31 Buoy to its original position within the next 7 days.


 

Sunken vessel near Starcross

Number: 02/17 Date: 27 Jan 2017

Notice is given that a yacht has sunk by it’s mooring near Starcross at 50º 37.57’N, 003º 26.59’W.

Mariners should proceed with caution at this location giving it  as wide a berth as possible.

Efforts are underway to rectify the situation.

No.43 Perch removal and replacement with lighted buoy

Number: 07/16 Date: 10 Oct 2016

Notice is given that the River Exe marker Perch 43 will be removed on Monday 10th October 2016 and replaced with a green conical lighted buoy with lighting character F1 G 3s.

This will be a permanent change and the navigational chart and sailing directions will be updated accordingly by the UKHO at the next issue.
