We have teamed up with Exeter City Football Club’s Football In The Community, Active Devon and the Express and Echo to rebrand and build the Exeter Sports Fund, following on from the success of our partnership with the Express and Echo previously under the Exeter Sports Foundation. Every quarter, contributions will be awarded to individuals in the area. The aim is that these will 'make a difference' and create aspiration.
What can the grant be used for?
What do you need? New table tennis tables? Badminton nets? Football, netball or rugby kit? Or something else? Grants could be used to pay for kit or transport costs, competition entry fees or perhaps a coach to set-up a new team.
The President of the Fund is World Champion swimmer and Olympic athlete Liam Tancock who knows the importance of regular practice and the value of this type of local support.
Money to fund these awards will be raised from the annual Express and Echo Sports Awards and part-funded by the City Council and Exeter City Football Club’s Football in the Community, with support from Active Devon. Committee members will meet quarterly to decide which applications to award funding to. Applicants will be notified within three months of applying by email with the outcome of their application.
(Individuals and sports clubs can only receive one Exeter Sports Fund award each year.)
