Recycle this in your green bin (big sheets can be left beside your bin.) A line or two of tape won’t matter.

Cards (birthday/Christmas)

Place these in your black bin (their quality is insufficient to recycle with our paper) or reuse them as gift tags.

Carrier bags

Bags for life and other polythene bags: Recycle these in your green bin.

Biodegradable or industrially compostable bags: Place these in your black bin.

Home-compostable bags: Place these in your home composter (or your black bin).

Cereal boxes

Recycle these in your green bin.

Cheese wrappers

Take these to a supermarket collection point or place them in your black bin.

Christmas cards

Place these in your black bin (their quality is insufficient to recycle with our paper) or reuse them as gift tags.

Christmas wrapping paper

Place this in your black bin (except for brown paper, which can go in your green bin).

Christmas trees

Take these to a recycling centre or garden waste customers can place their tree out on their first garden waste collection date of the calendar year.

Cleaning product bottles

Recycle the bottles in your green bi, place any spray pumps in your black bin unless you can find a return scheme.

Cling film and film lids

Take these to a supermarket collection point or place them in your black bin.

Clothes and shoes

Clothes and shoes in good condition: donate these at a clothes bank or charity shop.

Clothes and textiles in clean but poor condition: check which charity shops will accept these. Currently, Force in Heavitree and Salvation Army on Exe Bridges will accept them. Do not donate these without checking first with the shop.

Soiled/stained clothing and textiles: put these in your black bin.

Shoes in poor condition: put these in your black bin.

Clothes hangers (plastic)

Recycle these in your green bin (carefully snap off the metal handles and take the metal to a recycling centre).

Take these to a recycling centre.

Coat hangers (metal)

Take these to a recycling centre.

Coat hangers (plastic)

Recycle these in your green bin (carefully snap off the metal handles and take the metal to a recycling centre).

Coffee bags (plastic)

Take these to a coffee shop recycling point or place them in your black bin.

Coffee cups (disposable)

Take these to a coffee shop recycling point.

Coffee pods

Use the Podback scheme. (If your property is not eligible for collections from your home, it will be because the electric vehicle that collects your bin does not have room for the pod storage containers. You will still be able to use the drop-off service.)

Compost bags/wrapping (bags that contained compost from a garden centre)

Recycle these in your green bin after emptying them completely and brushing them clean.

Compostable bags/wrap

Place these in your black bin if industrial composting required.

Place these in your home composter or black bin if they are home-compostable.

Do not put them in your green bin or food bin (if you receive a food waste collection).

Compostable cups

Place these in your black bin.

Cooking oil

Take this to a recycling centre.

Place this in your black bin (unless you can find a recycling collection point online).
