With the coast and countryside within easy commuting distance it is possible to work in or near the city centre whilst enjoying a more rural existence in your spare time. It is, for example, possible to leave work in the city centre and be on the beach within half an hour!
The city's parks offer a pleasant diversion from the city centre. Both Northernhay and Rougemont Gardens are just minutes away on foot from Exeter's High Street. Another popular spot for a picnic on a warm day is the Cathedral Green - known by some in Exeter as 'the beach'. Go to the Find a Park or Play area to find out more.
Exeter Green Circle Walks are typically 2 or 3 miles long but link up to form a 12 mile circular route that surrounds the city. Some parts of these footpaths and bridleways are suitable for bicycles and/ or horses. To find out more about nearby coastal areas and countryside go to Visit Exeter.
