8. Level 2 award in principles of manual handling
This course is suitable for general workplace hazards and controls associated with manual handling of articles such as furniture, boxes and work equipment. It includes typical injuries and health problems from incorrect manual handling plus the hazards and risks of a variety of workplace scenarios.
Duration: 1/2 day course
Schedule: 9:30am to 12:30pm
Examination: Multiple choice
Venue: Civic Centre, Paris Street
Topics covered include:
- the process of manual handling in the workplace
- manual handling injuries and the activities which cause them
- manual handling assessment and control option
- responsibilities imposed by the manual handling operations regulations
The course ends with a short multiple-choice test where candidates will need to achieve 20 correct answers from the 30 questions to receive the Royal Society for Public Health principles of manual handling certificate.
An oral option is available for those who require this. Please state at the time of booking whether an oral examination is required. In the event that we are unable to provide this on the course day, you may be asked to return for the examination at a later date.
All candidates must bring photographic proof of identification on the day of the course to meet the examination board's requirements. Candidates that do not bring photographic identification will not be able to take the course.
