Easter bin collections

We are changing the way we deal with bank holiday bin collections. All bin collections following a bank holiday will now take place one day late. See our Easter Bin Collection page for further details.

Procurement

Emissions from procurement span a broad range of activities and include capital and revenue spend. A number of measures have been taken to reduce emissions from our Procurement, in line with the Carbon Reduction Plan, including:

  • Discussions are currently ongoing with partnering organisations to introduce improved supplier carbon accounting data and obligate suppliers to provide contract specific emissions data, and use in contract selection process.
  • All suppliers and contractors who work for us are encouraged to hold an environmental accreditation such as the Green Accord or other equivalent and approved accreditation. The Green Accord is currently undergoing a relaunch, due to be finalised in Winter 2022/23. Updates will allow businesses to evidence their net zero targets, carbon reductions achieved and sustainable business practices.
  • Procurement procedures currently under review to allow for better recording of Scope 3 emissions data. New eProcurement software launched in September 2022 will enable this.
