6. What we do with your information

You have a right to know what information we hold about you and the purposes for which we process your information. You are also entitled to know who we share your personal information with, how long we will keep it for, where we obtained your personal information and any automated decision making we may make about you.

Our privacy notice, which also contains privacy notices for individual services, will tell you: 

  •  the name of our council and our data protection officer
  • the reason we are collecting your information and the legal basis

  • the names of any people, departments or organisations that we will share your information with

  • if your information will be transferred to any countries that do not have the same  same data safeguards as us

  • how long we will keep your information for (please see our Data Retention policy)

  • your rights

  • how you can complain to the Information Commissioner

  • what will happen if you don’t provide the information

  • whether we will make any automated decisions about you and how those decisions are made
