About you

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a flexible “Can do” attitude and a problem solving approach, Strong customer ethos, robust and self-motivated, able to work on own initiative and has part of a team. You will have good negotiation and conflict resolution skills and ability to remain calm, patient and polite when confronted with difficult situations. Be physically fit and able to undertake foot patrols, negotiate stairs and carry enforcement equipment.

About the role

An important role in supporting a vibrant City Centre and an income generating service, which pays for a wide range of other council services, such as our swimming pool, keeping the city clean and our parks and opens spaces.

Variety is key in this customer facing role; from assisting the public as the first point of contact on operational parking enquiries and enforcement matters, acting as an ambassador for both the council and the city.

Emergency first line repairs to parking equipment where necessary.

Report any site defects or health & safety issues to minimise risk to public and staff.

To enhance community safety by observing and reporting on security issues and anti-social behaviour ASB. Taking initial action to safeguard car park customers whilst on site; and on occasion including removal of tents on council property and dealing with initial ASB incidents alongside Response Officers when required.

Recording and reporting of miscellaneous data about the service and its users, including income reconciliation.

Provide cover for Car Park Revenue Officers (Cash Collection) as and when required for absences.

About the team

You will be joining a team who together have excellent knowledge and experience of Customer Service, Parking and Enforcement. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn and develop your own skill sets as you will receive training for your own specific role as Civil Enforcement Officer (Parking) to ensure we deliver a transparent, fair and consistent approach to parking enforcement and also ensuring the safe operation of our car parks.
