About you
Candidate must have Engineering Degree or HND qualification, and have a detailed knowledge of civil engineering standards, practices, and legislation. They must have a strong health and safety focus and be able to rationalise and drive maintenance and development across public realm assets. Being responsible for a small team of dedicated technical staff, they must have the management and leadership skills to achieve the best from their team.
About the role
The role is to manage the Engineering and Asset Operations Service and take responsibility for the development, operation and maintenance of the Council’s Public Realm built assets. This includes both revenue and capital budget programmes. The candidate will be responsible for the Engineering, and Asset Management Team as well as liaising with Council Members and staff, contractors, external organisations and members of the public. The candidate will advise the Public and Green Space Operations manager on all issues across the Council’s Public Realm built assets including bridges, retaining walls, drainage, surface car parks, monuments, water courses, cemeteries and closed churchyards, street furniture, footways and associated assets.
About the team
The Engineering and Asset team is a small team comprising of 8 team members, carrying out a broad range of functions from statutory street signage, data management, asset inspection and minor works, and large scale capital project delivery.
