You will possess an RYA Powerboat Level 2 qualification and have previous experience of a marine based work environment.
You will have a good knowledge of health and safety issues and experience of dealing with the public in a firm but fair manner.
You must be available to work weekends and have the flexibility to adjust your hours dependant upon seasons and weather conditions (ie working longer days on a fine summer day and less on a stormy autumn day).
About the role
To provide regular patrols of the Exe Estuary to deter unsafe or anti-social behaviour by issuing clear and firm advice.
To record details of accidents or near misses for investigation.
To monitor and report on the provision and maintenance of aids to navigation.
To understand and practice counter pollution (and similar emergency) plans and procedures.
About the team
A team of three Harbour Patrollers are led by the Harbour Master and work out of Exmouth.
The knowledgeable and experienced team contribute greatly to the building of strong relationships with user groups and other stakeholders by providing a reassuring presence on the water.
