Service Unit:Waste Operations
Full time: Permanent 37hrs per week
Exeter City Council currently have vacancies for Waste Operations Driver / Loaders to operate our fleet of up and coming modern vehicles from 3.5 tonne to 26 tonne rear steer RCV’s, including Hiab opportunities.
Working as part of a crew on a task and finish basis you will be driving Recycling vehicles on collection rounds for Exeter City Council who take pride in ensuring the city is kept clean and tidy in a sustainable way for its residents on a daily basis and doing your part for the environment.
To be considered for these opportunities it is essential that you hold a current full UK driving licence certificated to operate up to LGV class C and hold a valid Digital Tachograph Card
You will be required to hold a full Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC card), training to retain this card will be ongoing and provided onsite with a relevant payment for undertaking the training and you will be required to use modern in-cab technology to record all collection data on a day to day basis.
Working hours are on average, are 37 hours per week, commencing at 6am or 7am, working 5 days out of 7 including catch up Saturdays after Bank Holidays and Christmas with the availability of further overtime.
You must be self-motivated, flexible, and capable of lifting and manoeuvring heavy objects using manual handling techniques and prepared to work to exacting standards. High levels of physically fitness is required, along with good visual and hearing abilities. This role can be demanding as you will be working outside in all types of weather conditions.
You must be a team player and demonstrate a ‘can do’ attitude, flexible and willing to undertake requirements as a Driver and as a Loader, and have overall responsibility for your vehicle and crew.
