7. Strategies & policies
New Home Adaptations Policy
We recognise that adaptations to a home can improve the independence, well-being and dignity of our tenants. Adaptations can improve access to and facilitation of essential functions of a home and can often prolong the ability for someone to remain in their own home independently and safely.
Sometimes, minor adjustments and adaptations are all that are needed to achieve this independence. The timely provision of minor adaptations can often postpone the need for more substantial adaptations.
We have reviewed our policy in the last year, taking into account the views of those who had recently had one of our adaptations.
One of our happy tenants commented: “My wet room adaptation...has made my life so much easier.”
Neighbourhood Strategy
We have been busy working on a new Neighbourhood Strategy.
The strategy sets out plans on how we should be managing and investing in the neighbourhoods in which you live. It also identifies how we can best support communities to create positive, healthy and enjoyable environments.
A public consultation was recently held, of which we received 175 responses. We will be reviewing strategy in light of the feedback received, and hope to launch the strategy in the coming year.
