Public Tributes

Location: Cathedral Green on the north elevation of the cathedral

Removal: Tributes will be discreetly removed the day following the state funeral.

Important information

  • Tributes left in other locations will be moved to the designated location.
  • We ask that no live candles be placed outside the Cathedral. Any live candles will need to be removed due to them being a fire risk. For those wanting to light a candle, please go into the Cathedral.
  • Could we please ask that cellophane be removed from the flowers.
  • Where possible flowers will be composted down and used in existing gardens around the City.
  • Plants, longer surviving flowers and stuffed toys will be donated, where possible, to local organisations.
  • Due to the number of floral tributes and other memorials, it is not expected that gifts, cards, labels or other documents laid anywhere other than in Royal Parks will be kept for the national archive.
