2. Driver knowledge test
Applicants will need to pass a computerised knowledge test before being issued a driver’s licence.
The fee of £55.00 will be payable when you submit your application form and you can then book the test when you are ready.

The test will be held at the Civic Centre, Paris Street, Exeter, EX1 1RQ.On the date of your test please come to reception and a member of the licensing team will come and meet you.
All candidates must bring photographic proof of identification and their National Insurance Number on the day of the test.
Candidates who do not bring photographic identification (passport or driving licence) will not be able to sit the examination. Candidates will have the opportunity to return at a later date to sit the exam. If you have any queries on this please contact us before the course commences.
Sample questions
Below is a sample of questions you will encounter during the knowledge test. The test will provide you with four potential answers only one of which is correct. In addition to questions on locations of places and journeys, there will be questions on the Highway Code, road signage and a simple maths test.
You will be asked 16 questions on locations of places; 18 questions on Journeys; 5 on road signs; 6 on the Highway Code and 5 testing numeracy. 50 questions in total. You can skip questions and return to them if you wish and you have an hour to complete the whole test.
