1. Introduction

Local plan logo

We are starting work on a new Local Plan. This plan will shape the future of Exeter for the next twenty years and will be the basis for how the city continues to evolve and meet the needs of the community. It will be the main planning policy document for Exeter, setting out where development should take place and it will be vital in making decisions on planning applications.

The new Local Plan can only be effective if it covers the key issues facing the city. This document explains what we think the main issues are.

We will use your comments to shape the first draft of the plan which will be consulted on in 2022.

A public consultation took place between the 20th September and 17th November 2021. Please see our report summarising the comments received to the Issues document consultation.

You can download and read our New Exeter Local Plan Issues consultation document.

To be kept informed of progress on the new Local Plan, please contact us providing your name and email.
