0. Notice of vacancy for Topsham Ward

Election of a City Councillor for Topsham Ward

 

  1.  An Election is to be held of One City Councillor for Topsham. 
  2. Forms of nomination for the City Election may be obtained at Civic Centre, Paris Street, Exeter, EX1 1JN from the Returning Officer who will, at the request of an elector for any electoral area prepare a nomination paper for signature. 
  3. Nomination papers must be delivered to the Returning Officer, Civic Centre, Paris Street, Exeter, EX1 1JN on any day after the date of this notice but no later than 4 pm on Friday, 15th November 2019. 
  4. If any election is contested the poll will take place on Thursday, 12th December 2019. 
  5. Applications, amendments or cancellations of postal votes and amendments or cancellations of proxy votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Civic Centre, Paris Street, Exeter, EX1 1JN by 5 pm on Wednesday, 27th November 2019. (This deadline applies to this election only. The deadline for applications in respect of the UK Parliamentary General Election also due on 12 December 2019 is 5pm on Tuesday, 26th November 2019). 
  6. New applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Civic Centre, Paris Street, Exeter, EX1 1JN by 5 pm on Wednesday, 4th December 2019. 
  7. Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election on grounds of physical incapacity or for work/service reasons must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Civic Centre, Paris Street, Exeter, EX1 1JN by 5 pm on Thursday, 12th December 2019. The physical incapacity must have occurred after 5 pm on Wednesday, 4th December 2019. To apply on the grounds of work/service, the person must have become aware that they cannot go to the polling station in person after 5 pm on Wednesday, 4th December 2019. 
  8. Applications to be included on the Register of Electors can be made online at www.gov.uk/registertovote or by completing a form available from the Electoral Registration Officer (01392 265141). The deadline for applications to be received is Tuesday 26 November 2019.
