Local Housing Allowance

Local Housing Allowance (LHA) is the rent figure used to work out Housing Benefit for private tenants.

Your LHA rate is based on the number of bedrooms you are allowed and not on how much your rent is. The number of bedrooms allowed depends on who lives with you.

You can find out how many bedrooms your claim will be based on by using the Valuation Office Agency (VOA) room calculator .
