1. Level 2 Award in Food Safety and Hygiene

In-person training

Our Royal Society for Public Health accredited Level 2 Award in Food Safety and Hygiene is taught by Environmental Health Officers with a wealth of knowledge and practical experience; there’ll be plenty of opportunity to answer your food safety questions throughout the day.

The topics covered include:

  • Basic bacteriology
  • Food poisoning
  • Personal hygiene
  • Food contamination
  • Food storage and temperature control
  • Pest control
  • Design of premises and equipment
  • Cleaning
  • Food safety law and management

The courses take place at The Matford Centre, Matford Park Road, Marsh Barton, Exeter on the following dates:

  • 6 March 2024
  • 1 May 2024

  • 10 July 2024

  • 18 September 2024

  • 27 November 2024

 

The course runs from 9:30 to 5:00pm and costs just £60 per person. There’s free parking at the Matford Centre and refreshments are available throughout the day. There’s a café on site should you wish to purchase lunch.

The course ends with a short multiple-choice test where candidates will need to achieve 20 correct answers from the 30 questions to obtain the Royal Society for Public Health’s Level 2 Award in Food Safety and Hygiene.

An oral examination is available for those with reading or writing difficulties; please let us know of any special requirements at the time of booking

Online training

If you prefer to learn at your own pace, we also provide e-learning Level 2 (£20 per person) and, for managers and supervisors, e-learning Level 3 (£125 per person) food safety courses – contact us to find out more information

It’s a legal requirement that food handlers are supervised and instructed and/or appropriately trained; these qualifications are an ideal way of helping you comply with this requirement.
