Colin Seddon

Colin has been a member of the Exeter Harbour Board since summer 2023 and has both professional and personal drivers for being a member of the harbour board.

In a personal capacity, Colin is a regular user of the River Exe, having a small motor boat which is moored at Starcross and is a member of Starcross Fishing and Cruising Club. He also regularly kayaks on the river and the canal and is hoping to entice his daughters into dinghy sailing over the next couple of years.

Professionally, Colin works at the UK Hydrographic Office as the Deputy National Hydrographer. He leads the part of the UKHO which, among many other things, works alongside ports and harbours in the UK (including, of course, Exeter Port Authority) to meet their navigation and charting needs as part of the UK’s obligations as a coastal state.

Colin also volunteers as a Water Safety Advisor with the RNLI, providing advice on how to use the water safely while getting maximum enjoyment from the amazing resources we have in our part of the world.
