Memorials on graves

Show all parts of this guide

1. Can I place a memorial on a grave?

Many people wish to mark a grave by placing a memorial with a personalised tribute.

If you want to place a memorial you must own the Exclusive Right of Burial for the grave, or have the permission of the owner of the right.

On payment of the fee a memorial right will be granted for a period of ten years. The right will be extended at the end of this time, subject to the memorial being kept in a safe condition.

We have a few simple rules to make sure that memorials are safe, well maintained, and fit in with the character of the cemeteries.
