12. Science Park SPD

East Devon District Council, in partnership with us, the University of Exeter, Devon County Council and the Met Office, commissioned consultants Atkins Limited to prepare planning guidance on how a Science Park adjacent to the M5 motorway at Junction 29 can be developed.

Science Park SPD

As a first stage the consultants prepared a Scoping Report for the Sustainability Appraisal and Strategic Environmental Assessment (SA/SEA) which is required to inform and accompany the guidance. The SA/SEA assesses the potential sustainability effects of the SPD as a policy document. In doing so, the content of the SPD will be improved, adverse environmental impacts minimised, and opportunities for positive impacts identified. As and when a planning application is made for the development, a full Environmental Impact Assessment will be required separately.
