7. Safeguarding at events

While most events are a positive experience for those who attend there are risks associated with them for children and some adults. These include exposure to inappropriate behaviours, becoming lost, and risk of criminal or sexual grooming depending on the environment and type of event.

This guidance document and template will help you to consider the risks and what you can do to mitigate them depending on the type of event you are holding.

All event organisers should carry out a safeguarding risk assessment, with those using council land or premises required to do so as part of the booking terms and conditions. The size of an event does not necessarily determine the risk to children and adults.  For larger events this risk assessment will be scrutinised by the Safety Advisory Group.
