Services for people in housing need

Over the Christmas period the Housing Options Service that deals with homelessness and housing advice will be closed from 17.00 on December 22 until 9.00am on Tuesday 2 January 2024.

Although our office is closed you can still access our service online for useful information and advice.

If you are at risk of becoming homeless;

You can contact us using our housing services online self-referral to tell us if you are homeless, at risk of homelessness or need some housing advice. Once the service re-opens on the 2nd January we will aim to contact you within two working days.

If you are an existing customer

You can contact your housing officer using our online contact your caseworker form if you have any questions or updates about your housing application. You will receive a response from either your caseworker or another housing officer as soon as practicable once the service re-opens on the 2nd January.

If you are a rough sleeper or concerned about someone rough sleeping

Our commissioned Outreach service, delivered by Julian House, will be running across the Christmas period apart from the bank holiday period.

If you are concerned about someone rough sleeping please contact StreetLink, using either their website or mobile app, but if you cannot access the internet you can also get in touch via their phone line on 0300 500 0914

Your report will go directly to Julian House who will investigate and provide support as soon as possible.  We have good intelligence about who is rough sleeping within the city centre and are very keen to hear if you know of someone bedded down further out from the city centre.

If you become homeless

If you find yourself without any form of accommodation available to you when the service is closed then please call our out of hours service on 01392 265147 for advice and assistance.

Please note that this number is not for general housing advice and assistance but for emergency homeless situations only.
