About the Devon Climate Emergency

The Devon Climate Emergency

The Devon Climate Emergency is a partnership of organisations from across Devon, including local councils, community groups, universities and businesses, brought together to find collaborative solutions to the climate crisis and to work out how Devon will achieve the goal of net zero emissions by 2050 at the latest. The Devon Climate Emergency Response Group, of which Exeter City Council is a member, is focusing on the development of 2 key plans – the Devon Carbon Plan and the Adaptation Plan for Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

The Devon Carbon Plan

The Devon Carbon Plan was published in September 2022. The plan provides a detailed route of how Devon will successfully decarbonise in time with the goal to stay within 1.5C of global warming.

Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly Adaptation Plan

The Adaptation Plan is in draft format. This plan will outline how Devon, Cornwall, and the Isles of Scilly will adapt to the challenges of climate change.
