Greenhouse Gas inventory for Exeter
In 2021 the Centre for Energy and the Environment at the University of Exeter was commissioned to establish a baseline greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory for the city, quantify the reductions required to achieve net zero in 2030 and identify more specific and timely metrics for monitoring progress towards carbon neutrality in each emissions sector.

The GHG inventory reports emissions for eight sectors: power, buildings, industry, transport, agriculture, land use, waste and fluorinated gasses (F gases). The inventory is for territorial emissions. Territorial emissions are those arising from within the boundaries of the city and are therefore more in the control of people living, working and visiting the city.
