We started work on a new local plan, the Exeter Plan, in 2020. This will cover the city’s development needs going forward. The Exeter Plan was publicly launched in autumn 2021 and three public consultations have been held so far. This page contains the draft Exeter Plan documents from the consultation, as well as reports summarising the responses to each consultation.

A further public consultation on the publication version of the Exeter Plan will take place in autumn 2024.

 

Issues consultation (autumn 2021)

The first stage in preparing the New Exeter Local Plan involved inviting comments on:

• an initial set of key issues identified as those Exeter and its communities are facing
• the draft vision for the new Local Plan

Outline draft Exeter Plan consultation (autumn 2022)

The outline draft consultation was the second round of consultation. The outline draft included:

• the vision for the city
• potential development sites for a mixture of uses including housing
• a set of draft policies

This version was not a full draft.

Full Draft Exeter Plan consultation (autumn 2023)

The full draft consultation was the third round of consultation undertaken. The full draft included:

• the vision for the city
• potential development sites for a mixture of uses including housing
• a full set of proposed policies
• a draft proposals map (policies map) of the city

Other sites may be included in the next round of consultation and policies may be amended or added based on the full draft consultation.
