What happens to my waste?

3. Rubbish

Our collection crews deliver your black bin waste to Devon County Council’s Energy from Waste facility in Marsh Barton, Exeter. The rubbish is then burned to generate electricity via a steam-powered turbine. The emissions from this facility are monitored to meet strict Environment Agency regulations.

While Energy from Waste is much better than landfill, it is still not as good as recycling: burning recyclable material means having to make products from raw materials extracted from the Earth.
