Baby nappies

Place these in your black bin.

Baby wipes

Place these in your black bin. Please do not flush these down your toilet.

Bags (plastic)

Bags for life, polythene bags (bread bags, apple bags, magazine wrap, etc.): Recycle these in your green bin.

Crinkly bags (salad bags, pasta and rice packets, etc.): Take these to a supermarket collection point.

Biodegradable or industrially compostable bags: Place these in your black bin.

Home-compostable bags: Compost these in your home composter if you can (otherwise place them in your black bin).

Baking tray (metal)

Take these to a recycling centre.

Baking tray (silicone)

Place these in your black bin.

Baking paper

Place this in your black bin.

Bank cards (cut up and secured)

Place these in your black bin.

Bathroom spray bottles

Separate the nozzle/pump and recycle the bottle in your green bin.

Place the nozzle/pump in your black bin unless you can find a return scheme.

Batteries

Return these to a battery retailer (they are recycled under producer responsibility legislation) or take them to a recycling centre.

Bed sheets

Take these to a recycling centre or shop collection points.

Biscuit packets

Take these to a supermarket collection point or place them in your black bin.

Birthday cards

Place these in your black bin (their quality is insufficient to recycle with our paper) or reuse them as gift tags.

Black plastic packaging

Recycle this in your green bin.

Bleach bottles (empty)

Recycle these in your green bin.

Blister packs

Take these to an in-store collection point or place them in your black bin.

Books (hardback)

Donate these to charity. If they are not in good enough condition to donate, remove their hard cover and recycle the pages in your green bin. Place the hard cover in your black bin.

Books (paperback)

Donate these to charity. If they are not in good enough condition to donate, recycle them in your green bin.

Bottle lids (for glass bottles)

Aluminium (non-magnetic): Leave these on the jar and recycle them through the recycling banks

Steel (magnetic), placed inside a steel food can: Recycle these in your green bin. You can also leave them on the jars and recycle them at the recycling banks, but Exeter won’t benefit from the sale of the metal.

Bottle lids (plastic)

Leave these on the bottles and recycle them in your green bin.

Bread bags (cellophane)

Take these to a supermarket collection point or place them in your black bin.

Bread bags (polythene)

Recycle these in your green bin.

Bread bags (paper and cellophane)

Separate the paper and recycle it in your green bin. Take the cellophane to a supermarket collection point or place it in your black bin.

Brochures/catalogues

Recycle these in your green bin.

Broken glass

Place this in your black bin (the glass must be wrapped securely, not loose).

Brown paper

Recycle this in your green bin.

Bubble wrap

Recycle this in your green bin (the pieces must be no smaller than a postcard).

Butane canister

Take these to a recycling centre (even if empty).
