2. Adoption of CIL in Exeter
We introduced our CIL on 1 December 2013 and revised this on 1 January 2024.
Key points:
- in Exeter, CIL is charged on retail development outside the city centre, residential development and student housing. For other development it is £0.0 per square metre
- we allow payment by instalments where the liability of a scheme is £50,000 or more
- once the money has been collected the Annual Infrastructure Statement will set out the types of infrastructure that we intend to help fund using CIL
- 15% of the CIL receipts are set aside to be spent in city neighbourhoods
